520 _aTUAÑO, CHRISTIAN R. Development of Microcontroller-Based Electricity Theft Alarm Device with Energy Monitoring System. Design Project of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University-Rosario, Rosario, Cavite December 2017. Adviser: Engr. Ariesthotle D. Arive. Technical critic: Engr. Jhun J. Pagdunzolan The study was conducted from October 2016 to November 2017 to develop and evaluate an electricity theft alarm device with power monitoring system. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design the circuit connection of the different electronic components to microcontroller; 2) construct the Transmitter and the Receiver of the prototype· 3) test and evaluate the measured current by the current transformer to: a) determine the device measured kwh that is being consumed b) compare the measured kwh between the device and the electric meter and; c) determine if there are cases of illegal tapping and tampering on the device; and 4) conduct a cost-benefit analysis. The study was divided into two systems, electricity theft notification system and energy monitoring system. The basic function of the device is to determine if there are cases of theft on electricity and to monitor the energy consumption of the user. The most significant findings of the evaluation were the discrepancy between the readings of the digital clamp meter and the current sensor used in the study. It is because the digital clamp meter only displays one significant decimal place. However, t-test shows that there was no statistically significant difference between the readings of these two to current measuring device. This finding, however, does not weaken the technical performance of the device.
