DEJAMO, JIRAMEE C., TIGUMAN, CHARRY MARK TOBY C. AND QUIZON,
RAYMART V. Development of The Coil Spring Compressor. Undergraduate Project
Design Study. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Cavite State University
Rosario, Cavite. January 2014. Adviser: Ariel G. Santos. Technical Critic: Mr. Fernando M. Cielo.

This project design study entitled Development of Coil Spring Compressor
attempted to answer the following: (1) How did the development of coil spring
compressor help in easy and fast automobile suspension servicing? (2) How did the
developed coil spring compressor provide new techniques for removing, installing
and or in suspension servicing? This project design study sought to design,
construct, and test and revise a working model of the Coil Spring Compressor to
cope with the rapid change in the field of technology. Coil Spring Compressor is
well-designed to help the students and instructors in servicing a coil spring. The
advantage of Coil Spring Compressor is to lessen the time and effort being exerted
by the workers on their job.

The methodology used in constructing the prototype was cutting, grinding.
welding and drafting processes like autocad, simple sketching by doing the
orthographic and isometric view of the prototype. The respondents of the study
were composed of four; (4) auto mechanics in the industry, two (2) instructors and
twenty four (24) students of Cavite State University-Rosario Campus.

Based on the evaluation and testing of the prototype has the following findings;
The development of the coil spring compressor allowed a safe, easy and fast servicing of
strut suspensions. The developed coil spring compressor provided new techniques for removing and installing coil springs in strut suspensions Evaluation results showed
that the coil spring compressor is effective in its performance and is highly considered
excellent tool struts suspension servicing. The survey stated that prototype as evaluated
from the seven acceptability indicators was highly accepted by the respondents with an
overall mean of 4.4 falling under the descriptive rating of "excellent." The prototype can
develop new technique and skills in struts suspension servicing jobs. Locally made and
available parts can be used in the fabrication of the prototype. The result of the evaluation
showed that the prototype is a potent tool in the automotive shop and other independent
garage auto shops. It is recommended that a parallel study should be made to improve
the project perhaps make it hydraulically operated. Instructors and students must use the
prototype as a standard device in suspension servicing jobs in the auto technology. This
prototype be mass produced for shop application.
