Cavite State University-Rosario, Rosario, Cavite. April 2014. Thesis Adviser: Raiza D. Borreo. The study was conducted from July 2013 to January 2014 at Tanza National Comprehensive High School and Tanza National Trade School to develop a web portal for Boy Scout and Girl Scout of the two public high schools in Tanza, Cavite to help the students to understand scouting better. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. plan a website through identifying the problems of scouts and instructors teaching it; 2. analyze the problem encountered in manual teaching of scouting and make a solution to solve the problem; 3. design the logical aspect of website that serves as an alternative tool in teaching scouting; 4. develop the physical layout of the scout members and teachers; and 5. evaluate the systems functions using software evaluation instrument. Participants of this study were set into two groups: teachers, scout members or students. There were 5 teachers who evaluated the system, 3 from Tanza National Trade School and 2 from Tanza National Comprehensive High School. There were 29 students/scout members, 15 from Tanza National Trade School and 14 from Tanza National Comprehensive High School evaluated the system. The team discussed first to the students/scout members the main objective of the study which is to build a website: that they can be used to help in their study in scouting. Demonstrating on how to use the website is the next step. After demonstrating, one of the participants tried to use the website independently to check if the system is user-friendly. Thereafter, the students/scout members evaluate the system. The team also discussed the functions of the website to the teachers and how it operates. They also evaluated the system based on what the functionality of the system. Results showed that the system is an effective tool to learn and promote scouting for students.
