AGUSTIN, ERNEST JAY N., FLORES, MARK JEROD., RELABO, ANTHONY ALLAN V. AND VILLANUEVA, MARICRIS C. DEVELOPMENT OF ONLINE LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF MUNICIPALITY OF TANZA. A Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University- Rosario, Rosario, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser. Raiza D. Borreo.
The study was conducted from July 2013 to January 2014 in the municipal library of Tanza and developed in San Antonio Subdivision, Santa Clara, General Trias, Cavite The general objective was to develop an online library management system of the Municipal of Tanza Specifically, it aimed to perform preliminary investigation to evaluate the manual process of using the library, analyze the problems of the users on borrowing and returning references; develop a user-friendly website that will satisfy the users in accessing the library without going on the library, and evaluate the system according to the software evaluation instrument.
The waterfall model was used as guide during the development of the system Various software tools and programming languages were used to develop the system. These include PHP as the server-side scripting language, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript as the client-side scripting language. MySQL. served as the back end of the system and Apache using XAMPP as the temporary host, Notepad++ as the source code editor, Adobe Photoshop for graphic needs, and Microsoft Office for the documentation of the study.
The specific objectives were met upon completion of the software as system serves as an alternative for traditional card cataloging and borrowing of books used by researchers in Tanza library. The system will minimize the time of finding the right library where they can find the books or references, they need in their study. It computerized the manual borrowing and returning of books in the library.
The system was evaluated by the residents and non-residents of Tanza and the Tanza municipal library staffs. The contents used in the evaluation were: accuracy, consistency, correctness, reliability, information in the program, user intrection and technical aspects of the software and materials. Results showed that the system achieved an outstanding rating and an effective method of reserving of books in Tanza municipal library.
