ASUNCION, VINCE CARL V., BARCENA, FRINCESS VENUS F., and BAYAN, AIRA JADE B. Banana Pseudostem as Soil Enhancer. A Research Study Secondary Education Laboratory High School Cavite State University-Rosario, Rosario, Cavite March 2016. Adviser Engr. Reynaldo V Villanueva
The study was conducted at Block 8, Lot 8, Sitio Elang, Brgy. San Francisco, General Trias, Cavite from October 2015 to January 2016 to identify the effectiveness of banana pseudostem as soil enhancer. The study, specifically, aimed to determine 1) if there is a significant difference between growing tomato plant in pure loam soil and in different mixtures of loam soil and decomposed pseudostems in terms of height, number of flowers, and number of fruits, and 2) the mixture (ordinary loam soil or loam soil pseudostem mixture) that works best for the plants' growth..
Significant differences were observed between To and T1, To and T2, and To and Ts in terms of the height and number of fruits. In the measurement of height, the computed value, 148.691, was greater than the tabulated value, 4.07, in the number of fruits, the computed value, 35.096, was greater than the tabulated value, 4.07. The most effective, in terms of height, were T, and Ta, and, in terms of the number of fruits, was T2. This means that the null hypothesis is rejected, hence, banana pseudostems are
effective as soil enhancers
No significant difference was observed between To and T1. To and T2, and To and Ta in terms of the number of flowers, wherein the computed value, 2.810, was less than the tabulated value, 4.07. This means that the null hypothesis is accepted.
