Adviser: Mr. Art A. Palacios. The study entitled, Comparison Of Mangrove Biodiversity In The Coastal Areas Of Rosario And Kawit was conducted to document the mangrove biodiversity of the two municipalities. In addition, the perceptions of each respondent about mangrove trees and on their locality were also gathered to determine their ideas about the importance and purpose of these trees on their lives. The research was divided into two parts; (1) ecological survey of mangrove biodiversity and, (2) determining the perception of the local residence on their ideas about mangrove trees situated in their vicinity. Ecological survey of each mangrove ecosystem includes photo documentation and mangrove species count to describe the community structure and mangrove areas in each municipality. Three 10 m x 10 m plot were established perpendicular along the coastal area. Each plot was divided into four subquadrats. Mangrove plants situated on the established plots were categorized into trees, saplings, and seedlings. Also part of the study is to get the height measurement of mangrove trees in centimeter. After the ecological survey done, through the use of the book, Botanical Identification Handbook On Philippine Mangrove Trees by Eustaquio G. Argones Jr., Justo P. Rojo and Fernando C. Pitague Jr., the study identified three species of mangroves in Rosario Cavite and four species of mangroves in Kawit Cavite. The results were tabulated and analyzed to get the mangrove community structure and the species biodiversity based on the modules of Prof. K. Katherisian of the Centre of Advance Study in Marine Biology adopted from the book, Survey Manual for Tropical Marine Resources by the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences (English et al, 1997), Teaching Issues and Experiments in Ecology by Richard Boyce of the Ecological Society of America (Boyce R., 2005), and The Ordination Methods for Ecologists by Mike Palmer of the Botany Department, Oklahoma State University (Palmer, n.d.). Moreover, based on the data obtained during the ecological survey, the following conclusions were made. The mangrove community structure between Rosario and Kawit showed no significant difference based on species density, species dominance, and importance value. In contrast species frequency and species biodiversity showed a significant difference in both municipalities. In addition, there were four mangrove species found in the mangrove ecosystem of Kawit namely; Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora mucronata, and Sonneratia alba. On the other side, three mangrove species were only seen in the mangrove ecosystem of Rosario namely; Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba and Rhizophora mucronata
