Adviser: Mrs. Caridad S. Merced
In line with the current need for reducing the rate of diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria and fungi, the researchers thought of a way to detect the inhibition of the growth of Escherichia Coli on fresh and salt water.
This study entitled "Effects of Fresh and Salt Water on the Growth of Escherichia Coli" aims to test the inhibition of bacteria in different kinds of water.
All the needed materials are gathered. Glass wares were sterilized. Nutrient agar media was prepared. After a few minutes, the mixture was placed in the Petri plates. When the nutrient agar medium was already placed in the Petri dishes, the test organism was then placed in each Petri plates. Filter Disc Diffusion Method was employed in three replications. Sterile blank discs were submerged in every test organism. The Petri dishes were incubated for 24 hours at 35.5 с.
After one day, the zones of inhibition were measured using the Vernier Caliper. Results were recorded in Tabular form and were analyzed. Based on the computed data, by statistical computation it was proven that they have a significant effect on the growth of Escherichia Coli in different water media.
