The general objective of the study was to follow up the BSBM students who conducted entrepreneurial development project for the period covered 2011-2013.
Specifically the study aimed to: determine the number of BSBM graduates who engaged in business based on their EDP; determine the problems encountered by the students in continuing their EDP as a business; assess the learning experiences of the students who conducted EDP in terms of handling the business and recommend possible solutions who conducted EDP in terms of handling the business; assess the learning experiences of the students who conducted EDP in terms of handling the business and recommend possible solutions to the problems encountered.
The researchers used the descriptive method of research that answered the questions what, where, when , who and how. The researchers' respondents were the BSBM students who conducted EDP for the covered period, 2011-2013. The survey questionnaire for the BSBM students was divided into 3 parts: Personal/EDP Information on the name of the EDP, location, name of the students and year graduated; second was the screening segment composed of set of questions about the BSBM graduates who engaged in business based on their EDP; third, the Likert Scale in terms of their learning experiences of handling a business.
After the retrieval of the survey questionnaire, data were tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using the mean, frequency and percentage.
There were 44 participants; 17 in 2013, 15 in 2012 and 12 in 2011. Out of 44, there were 41 who engaged in Food Business for EDP. After graduation 42 or 95.45 did not engaged in business only 2 continued their business based on their EDP. The motivation, was to earn profit while one (1) of them enjoyed doing the business. One has been engaged in business for three (3) years. There were some problems encountered along the way of their business and this was competition between the small enterprises and the other one was time. and manpower. Thirty three(33) or 63.46 % did not continue their business because were employed, 10 or 19.23 % failed to continue the business because of their start-up cost of capital. Some of them were employed overseas with the frequency of 3 or 5.77 % and others had their own reason like they are not priority to put their EDP into an actual business.
In terms of learning experiences, majority of the participants, majority of the participants strongly agreed that EDP increased their learning and gave them sufficient practice. The difficulty level of EDP enhanced their skills to overcome business internal and external problems which taught them how to handle a business. They also agreed that their interest in their chosen field has increased.
The researchers started their study from November 2015 up to January 2016 at Rosario,Cavite.
