The study was conducted from July 2015 to March 2016 to develop and evaluate a portable pneumatic high powered jack. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1) design and develop a portable pneumatic high powered jack; 2) construct the device using locally available materials; 3) evaluate the performance of the device in accordance to its operational limitations; in terms of the following; a) effectiveness, b) speed of operation and c) safety features of the device; and 4) conduct cost analysis for the portable pneumatic high powered jack.
The portable pneumatic high powered jack has a cylinder that can lift up to 1 ton of weight specifically light vehicles. Capacity depends on the available air pressure from air compressor. The device can be operated up to a maximum of 400 psi air pressure. The prototype can lift all the under chassis part like mounting and dismounting of transmission, differential and other under chassis work. With the evaluation conducted, the prototype can assist the operator to lift all the under chassis part of the car.
The portable pneumatic high powered jack was constructed with pneumatic cylinder. The prototype was consisted of the pneumatic cylinder, compressor, angle bar and square tube. Pneumatic cylinder used air pressure to function. The compressor was responsible to produce the air pressure to the pneumatic cylinder to lift the vehicle. For the arms, the square tube was used with the thickness of 3mm and 4cm width and where the square tube was installed for the wheel of the roller. And for the frame of the prototype, the angle bar was used with the size 4cm width, 36 cm long and the thickness f 3mm. The raw material cost was PHP 16,389.00 while the labor cost reached PHP 2,000.00 and the total initial cost was PHP 19.389.00.
