The study was conducted from April 2015 to March 2016 to develop and evaluate a Handheld Laser Distance Device with Bluetooth Application. Specifically, study aimed to: 1) design a Handheld Laser Distance Device with Bluetooth Application; 2) construct a Handheld Laser Distance Device with Bluetooth Application; 3) evaluate the performance of the device in terms of: a) accuracy of distance measurement at 75m between Handheld laser distance device with Bluetooth and Steel tape rule; b)accuracy of distance measurement at 50m between Handheld laser distance device with Bluetooth and Steel tape rule; and c) accuracy of distance measurement at 25m between Handheld laser distance device with Bluetooth and Steel tape rule; and 4) conduct a cost analysis for the Handheld Laser Distance Device with Bluetooth Application. In this research, two measuring tools: the Handheld laser distance device with Bluetooth and Steel tape rule were measured distances (75m, 50m and 25m). This was measured in the routine of forward and backward horizontally. The results showed that the prototype developed were able to measure distances to determine its accuracy. The results also indicated that based on t-test computed, there were no significant difference between the means using the Handheld LDD with Bluetooth and Steel tape rule. The Bluetooth allows transferring measurements from the laser distance device to compatible devices. Once connected, users can instantly create design with precise measurements. The authors merely attempted to evaluate, in limited and confined circumstances, the levels used in the experiment by comparing the results obtained with an already established measurements base line. This gave an insight into the relative measuring capabilities of the instruments for limited distance measurements applications.

ABSTRACT

CAYAS, ROMINA MAE S., CERADO, JUSTINA M., and CHACON, LYKA A. Development of Handheld Laser Distance Device with Bluetooth Application. Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. Major in Drafting Technology. Cavite State University, Rosario Campus, Rosario, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Mrs. Ma. Daisy A. Santos. Technical critic: Mr. Ulysses O. Hufana.
