DIAMPUAN, ANZANO G., LACAR, DEMBERLY M., MERIVELES, ERNIE C., ORTILLO, EDILYN B. Development of Water Level Detector with Notification Via GSM, Buzzer, and Light Indicator. A Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University Rosario, Rosario, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Raiza D. Borreo. Technical critic: John Michael A. Dharma.
The study was conducted from July 2013 to January 2014 in Rosario, Cavite to develop a water level detector with notification via GSM, buzzer and light indicator. Specifically the study aimed to: plan the system through identifying the problem and the aim of the study; analyze the problem, input, process and the output of the study; design and construct the system and prototype that will provide to any individual to be aware and be prepared when the calamities occur using Water Level Detector with Notification via GSM, Buzzer and Light Indicator; test and evaluate the function of the device.
Several observations and interviews were conducted to determine the needs of end-users. The developers found out that there was a need of an alarm system to notify residents during flood. The data gathered were analyzed to conceptualize the block diagram. Using arduino in microcontroller, the developers program the functionality of the prototype. The water level sensor was used as an input device and the output devices were the buzzer and light. The GSM was used to send message from the prototype to the residents’ mobile devices.
There were a total of 100 participants who evaluated the prototypes functionality in terms of functionality, aesthetics, workability, durability, economy, safety and sale ability. As result, the prototype was in outstanding, meaning that the prototype is an effective way of informing the resident about flood.
