A Project Design. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University Rosario, Rosario, Cavite. April, 2015, Thesis adviser: Mrs. Raiza D. Borreo. Technical critic: John Michael A. Dharma.

The project was conducted in Cavite from June, 2014 to February, 2015 with the considerations from people concerning this study such as I.T. professionals and school faculty members including students and administrative staffs. The project was to develop & microcontroller-based RFID attendance checking system. Specifically, the study aimed to: design the interface of microcontroller-based RFID attendance checking system: test the prototype and check for errors and specify the capacity of the device: evaluate the system through demonstrating with the support of the document information of the RFID attendance checking system: and deploy the microcontroller-based RFID attendance checking system.

The method used in the development of the study is the Iterative Development. Likert scale is used for the evaluation of the design project among its respondents.

Planning the system such as gathering information from different sources, analyzing the system's information including the advantages and disadvantages of the study, designing the outcome and diagrams of the study and system prototyping were done to create the project. The system is composed of components that control and supports the function of the system: a liquid crystal display (LCD) to display the current date and time and the status of the system; real-time clock (RTC) module that is used as the clock; Ethernet shield to connect the system to the web server, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader and writer module for the retrieval of unique ID numbers embedded on each RFID cards and Arduino UNO R3 microcontroller programmed to control the whole system. The developers did an alpha testing to check for the errors. Beta testing was conducted to check the system’s efficiency.

There are a total of 175 respondents who evaluated the system which consisted of students of Cavite State University-Rosario from different courses, faculty members and staffs.

The microcontroller-based RFID attendance checking system was tested by MIFARE Classic 1K ISO/IEC 14443 Type A compliant 13.56MHz-compatible RFID cards. The developers explained the significance and function of the prototype to the respondents in order to understand the whole system. Results of evaluation showed that the prototype is an effective tool to minimize efforts in attendance checking of the students.

After the deliberation of conclusions, several evaluation for each indicator per criteria were gathered. The findings include that the system is outstanding on all the indicators, specifically in terms of functionality, aesthetics, reliability, quality, economy, safety and marketability.
">ALVAREZ, MARLETT A, CASCARO, VANEZA NINA V., ESPEDIDO, MICHELLE A,, HINAHON, GERALDINE C. and VALERIO, JEFFREY JAMES L.
