The study, PRICING STRATEGIES OF VEGETABLE VENDORS IN TANZA PUBLIC MARKET, A MARKETING THESIS, focused on pricing strategies used by the vendors in the public market of Tanza. Specifically, it determined the pricing strategies used by the participants, identified the opportunities for them to gain profit and proposed pricing strategies for all vegetable vendors.

The participants used survey questionnaire to gather important information from the vendors in Tanza Public Market. It included demographic profile of the vendors, factors that influence the price of the vegetables and the common pricing strategies applied by them. The study covered only the vegetable vendors of Tanza Public Market Based on the result of the survey made by the proponents; the average age of the participants was 50 years old; the gender of vegetable vendors was dominated by the females, the majority of the participants were married and most of them were high school graduates. Their capital used by the market vendors was more than P 20,000 and they had an average of 16 years in the business.

According to the result of the study, most of the prices of the vegetables increased during wet season and decreased during dry season The vendors stated that calamity was the main reason of the vegetable price change Common pricing strategy applied by the participants was competition-based pricing. On this note, the proponents proposed mark up on cost pricing as their pricing strategy.

The proponents of the study concluded that for more than 20 years, vendors in the public market of Tanza gained profit through competition-based pricing. The pricing change was because of the season, wet and dry season and the advent of calamities.
