The Entrepreneurial Development Project entitled "Knotty Knot Pretzels was conducted by three Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing students. The said project was done in different schools namely Cavite State University-Rosario Campus, Tanza National Comprehensive High School, and General Artemio Ricarte Memorial School respectively from November 13, 2008 to February 13, 2009. The title of the product was derived from the shape of the pretzel which is a knot shape. An amount of Php 350.00 was raised equally by the entrepreneurs to produce an initial capital of Php 1, 050.00. The entrepreneurs adopted a partnership form of business organization. The entrepreneurs have individual duties such as purchasing, financing, marketing and production. The entrepreneurs choose the students from high school and elementary level. Promoting it to the market and convincing them to buy our product was a hard job. We all learned that there are different kinds of customers with different attitudes and personalities, others are easily convinced and others are not. We learned to treat customers depending on their personalities to realize profit. In our experience in this business we encountered different obstacles in selling our product. The most challenging problem that we encountered was on pricing. At first the selling price of our product was Php 10.00 per pack. The price is quite high because of the branded chocolate syrup that we used, but in the preceding days, we come up to a solution to our problem. We decreased our price to Php 5.00 per pack because we used cheaper chocolate powder as spread of the pretzel.
For almost four months of operation the enterprise obtained a total net sales amounting to Php 15, 635.00, the enterprise also obtained a total net income amounting to Php 5, 840.75 and obtained ending cash on hand amounting to Php 6,841.50.
The Entrepreneurial Development Project entitled Knotty Knot Pretzel was a challenging part of being a BSBM student. Going through the step by step process and experiencing all the things which were involved in starting a business, choosing a target market and defining its needs and wants is also important. The entrepreneurs concentrated on the 4P's of marketing. They also realized the value of good marketing decision which involves target marketing and the quality of our product and our service offerings.
The entrepreneurs recommended to the future students who will undergo an entrepreneurial development project to take it seriously. Coming up with a creative product that satisfies the needs of their target market are the keys to success. Applying all the concepts of marketing and management will help them
to become successful in this field.
