The study entitled CHARDJO FLASH n' BANK: Improvised Charger with Built-in Radio, Flash light and Power Bank was conducted from September 2017 to May 2018. The design project was developed to charge mobile phone and other electronic gadgets that require low DC voltage like MP3, PSP, Camera, etc. using mechanical energy converted to electrical energy. The prototype is mechanically connected to an electric fan or bicycle to produce 5 V, 600 mAh regulated output.
The results of the statistical analysis of data revealed that it would take 25 hours and 32 minutes to charge the prototype using electric fan and takes 25 hours 54 minutes using the bicycle. Furthermore, the performance of the prototype was monitored by charging five different mobile phone units to show that the prototype is capable of charging mobile phones like Samsung JI, lphone 5S, Cherry Mobile J2 Flare, lpbone 4S, and Samsung Note5. The original mobile phone charger charged faster than the prototype since most of the original charger have higher current rating but the prototype did not consume electricity during charging time which only proves that the prototype can be used as an economical alternative energy source for charging several electronic gadgets.
