To protect people's health and curb to spread of the virus , people's lives and economic activities have been severely restricted. Carinderia business has been one of the most effected micro businesses in the Philippines. This study tried to understand the challenges of running a carinderia in General Trias City, Cavite. The research focused on the challenges, coping mechanisms, and perceived effectivenss of the coping mechanisms used during pandemic. The descriptive method and purposive sampling techniques were utilized in the study. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents type of business ownership were sole proprietorship, and are operating one year and below. The majority of the respondent's carinderia business have 1 to 3 number of employees, and have an initial investment of P20,000 and below. Moreover, study revealed that the majority of carinderias were facing challenges (1) Soaring prices of food and ingredients and Limited dine-in capacity in terms of sales. In terms of operations, challenges include (2) Daily proper sanitation and protective equipment and Health protocols and guidelines. In therms of staffing, challenges include (3) Fluctuating loads of work and short staffing while experiencing high demands. Lastly, in terms of finance, challenges include (4) Administrative expenses and Hygiene tools and Protective equipment costs. The study proposed strategies to enhanced the status quo among carinderia business in the City of General Trias, Cavite.
